It accounts for:

High blood pressure significantly increases the risk of heart attacks and strokes. Early detection and treatment are key to living a longer, healthier life
The NHS aims to prevent 150,000 strokes and heart attacks in the next 10 years through initiatives like this service, which focuses on early detection and promoting healthy behaviours
Who is Eligible?
This free service is available for adults who

Are over the age of 40
-
Have not been previously diagnosed with high blood pressure or a related condition
-
Have not had their blood pressure checked
What Does the Service Include?

Blood Pressure Measurement
A pharmacist will measure your blood pressure and explain the results
Healthy Lifestyle Advice
We promote behaviours to reduce your risk of CVD, such as healthy eating and exercise
Further Monitoring or Referral
Based on your results, the pharmacist will:
Normal Reading: Offer advice to maintain healthy blood pressure.
High Reading: Provide Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring (ABPM) at the pharmacy for further evaluation and continue promoting healthy habits.
Very High Reading: Urgently refer you to your GP within 24 hours and notify your GP practice.
Low Reading: Provide advice and refer you to your GP if needed.
Record Sharing
Your results will be securely sent to your GP so your health records are updated and appropriate action can be taken.
