Airomir Description
Airomir is a reliever inhaler that helps with symptoms such as wheezing.
It helps to relax the muscles in your airways, so you can breathe more easily.
Airomir comes in two types: the Autohaler and the standard inhaler.

What is Airomir?

Airomir is a reliever inhaler, which means you can use it whenever you experience symptoms. It can also be used for other lung-related conditions, but this will depend on your medical history and if your doctor believes it's safe and appropriate for you. Typically, the Airomir autohaler starts working within 5-10 minutes after you use it. Depending on your asthma requirements, you might need to use it more than once.

How does Airomir treat asthma?

The active ingredient in Airomir is Salbutamol sulfate. It's a type of medicine known as a 'bronchodilator', which helps to open up the airways to your lungs. The Airomir autohaler works by relaxing the muscles, allowing the airways to widen so you can breathe more easily. While it doesn't prevent asthma, as asthma is a condition that's managed rather than cured, it is used to relieve your symptoms when they worsen.

What should I do if Airomir doesn’t work?

If Airomir doesn't manage your asthma attack, you should get urgent medical assistance.

Will I need to use another inhaler at the same time as Airomir?

Yes, that's likely. There are two kinds of inhalers used to treat asthma: reliever inhalers and preventer inhalers. Airomir is a reliever inhaler that helps ease sudden asthma symptoms and attacks. It works immediately. In some situations, you might also use it before engaging in any vigorous physical activity.

A reliever inhaler is used for treating asthma, but a preventer inhaler functions a bit differently. It's meant to be used regularly to manage your asthma symptoms. If you're already using a preventer inhaler, please inform our clinician during your consultation.

Can you get Airomir Autohaler over the counter?

In the UK, Airomir autohaler is a prescription medicine, meaning you'll need to consult with a clinician initially. They will determine if it's safe and appropriate for you. Asthma treatment also involves regular check-ups and continuous monitoring by a clinician.

Taking it without advice from a clinician might lead to side effects.

Some side effects of the Airomir autohaler include hand tremors, leg cramps, chest pain, palpitations, headaches, and feeling nauseous.

Is Airomir the same as Ventolin?

How is Airomir different from other inhalers?

The Airomir autohaler contains salbutamol. If you're used to older types of inhalers, you might notice it tastes a bit different, and it's gentler on your throat.

Are there different doses of Airomir?

No, the Airomir autohaler delivers a set dose of 100 micrograms. However, if you're using the inhaler more than three times a week,

or if you're feeling uneasy after using it, send a message to our clinician. It might be that your asthma needs better management.
