Dalacin T Solution Description
Dalacin T Solution is an antibiotic treatment applied to the skin to help with acne.
You put it directly on your face, typically twice a day.
It includes an antibiotic that helps clear acne by eliminating harmful bacteria.

What is Dalacin T Solution?

Dalacin T Solution is used to treat acne. It's a topical antibiotic, meaning you apply it directly to your skin, and it works by stopping the growth of the bacteria that cause acne. It also helps with hidradenitis suppurativa, a condition that leads to painful lumps on the skin.

Typically, you'll apply Dalacin T Solution twice daily to treat acne. You can use it on any area where you have an acne outbreak to help clear your skin. It works by reducing existing acne and preventing new spots from forming.

How does Dalacin T Solution work?

Dalacin T Solution contains clindamycin as its active ingredient, which is an antibiotic known as a lincosamide. You apply it to your face, and it works by eliminating the bacteria on your skin that cause acne. It also prevents the growth of more bacteria by attaching to specific proteins on the skin.

After four weeks of treatment, clindamycin is present in the comedones, a type of acne lesion, indicating it is well-absorbed into the skin. Dalacin T Solution is also effective for treating hidradenitis suppurativa. You apply it directly to the affected skin, where it helps reduce the lumps and lesions caused by the condition.

What doses of Dalacin T Solution are there?

Dalacin T Solution comes in just one strength, with 10mg of clindamycin per millilitre. Apply it in a thin layer as instructed by your clinician, usually twice a day. If you find it's not effective, consult your clinician. They may suggest using Dalacin T Solution more frequently or trying a stronger acne treatment.

How long does it take Dalacin T Solution to work?

Dalacin T Solution begins to work on your acne fairly quickly, but it might take a bit longer to see the full results. If you don't notice any improvement after six weeks, it's a good idea to return to your clinician for advice.

Even if your acne gets better, don't abruptly stop using Dalacin T Solution. The treatment usually needs to continue for a bit longer to ensure all the bacteria causing the acne are eliminated. Speak with your clinician before you stop using Dalacin T Solution.

What should I do if I make a mistake when using Dalacin T Solution?

If you forget to apply Dalacin T Solution at your usual time, there's no need to worry. Simply apply it as soon as you remember, then continue with your regular routine. Setting an alarm or using a medication reminder app can help ensure you use it on time.

If you use too much Dalacin T Solution, simply rinse it off with clean water. Make sure not to swallow it. If it gets into your eyes, nose, or mouth, wash it out well with clean water. Speak to your clinician if you need further advice.

How is Dalacin T Solution different from other treatments?

Dalacin T is an acne treatment that contains clindamycin and is available as a solution. If you find gels or creams too heavy for your skin, this might be a suitable option. Since it contains just one active ingredient, it could also be a good choice if you have sensitive skin and want to be cautious about what you use on your face.

As an antibiotic, Dalacin T Solution is much more potent than many over-the-counter treatments for acne or hidradenitis suppurativa. If you've already experimented with various products and adjusted your skincare routine, Dalacin T could be a good option. Simply inform our clinicians about your skin, and we'll advise if it's suitable for you.

Is Dalacin T Solution similar to any other treatments?

Clindamycin is available in capsules and creams to treat different types of bacterial infections. Dalacin Cream, which contains clindamycin, is specifically used for vaginal infections. The capsules are typically prescribed for broader bacterial infections, such as pneumonia and cellulitis.

There are other topical treatments for acne that include clindamycin. Zindaclin Gel, for example, uses clindamycin as its sole active ingredient, but it's a gel instead of a thin solution, so it works in a similar manner. Some acne treatments combine clindamycin with other ingredients. These are usually gels as well, such as Treclin Gel, which contains clindamycin and tretinoin, and Duac Gel, which has benzoyl peroxide and clindamycin.

How effective is Dalacin T Solution?

Clindamycin has been used in acne treatments for more than forty years because it's effective. A study showed that after only twelve weeks, acne lesions treated solely with clindamycin decreased by 57%.

Applying clindamycin directly to the skin can help reduce inflammation, a major factor in acne.

Topical clindamycin treatments, such as Dalacin T Solution, are both safe and effective for treating hidradenitis suppurativa. In a three-month study, using topical clindamycin significantly improved all three main symptom groups each month. Abscesses, inflammatory nodules, and pustules all showed notable improvement with clindamycin treatment, and no side effects were reported.

Do I need a prescription for Dalacin T Solution?

No, you can't buy Dalacin T Solution over the counter. You'll need to speak with a clinician about your symptoms, and they'll prescribe it if it's appropriate for you. It's not suitable for everyone, as it depends on your health and any other medications you may be taking. If you share details about your acne with us, we can advise you on which treatments might be suitable.
