Easyhaler Salbutamol Description
Easyhaler Salbutamol is an inhaler that helps ease sudden asthma symptoms.
It helps to relax the muscles in your airways, which makes breathing easier.
The breath-activated design delivers medication as you breathe in.

What is Easyhaler Salbutamol?

Easyhaler Salbutamol helps ease asthma symptoms such as breathlessness, coughing, and wheezing. It's a reliever inhaler, which means you should use it only when you experience asthma symptoms or if you're about to do something that might make you breathless, like exercising. When used properly, it usually doesn't cause many side effects.

How does Easyhaler Salbutamol treat asthma?

It helps with breathing difficulties, wheezing, and coughing by relaxing the muscles in your airways, making it easier to breathe. It starts working in your body almost straight away and lasts for about five hours. When used correctly, it's a very safe, effective, and simple treatment for asthma.

What should I do if Easyhaler Salbutamol doesn’t work?

If your inhaler isn't working properly or you're having any side effects, please inform our clinical team. We can adjust your dosage or explore other asthma treatment options with you.

Should I use Easyhaler Salbutamol 100mcg or 200mcg?

It's really up to your situation. If your asthma is well-managed or you only experience attacks when exposed to triggers, you'll typically be given the 100 mcg dose. You usually take one puff of 100 mcg as needed, and if advised by our clinician, you may take two doses at once.

If your asthma attacks are more severe and happen more often, you might be given the 200mcg dose. Typically, you would take one puff of the 200mcg Easyhaler Salbutamol during an asthma attack or before encountering something that triggers your asthma.

If you're using your salbutamol inhaler more than three times a week, please contact our clinician. You might need to improve your asthma management.

Will I need to use another inhaler at the same time as Salbutamol?

Usually, yes. Reliever inhalers are used to treat asthma symptoms when they occur, but they don't manage the condition itself. That's where a preventer inhaler is helpful. Preventer inhalers help you build up daily protection against symptoms. They contain a low-dose steroid called corticosteroids, which reduce inflammation and swelling in your airways. You should use a preventer inhaler every day to maintain this protection, even if your asthma is well controlled.

During your consultation, we can discuss reliever and preventer inhalers with you and determine if having both types prescribed would be beneficial for managing your asthma.

Is Easyhaler Salbutamol the same as Easyhaler Budesonide?

No, Easyhaler Salbutamol and Easyhaler Budesonide serve different purposes. Easyhaler Salbutamol is a reliever inhaler, used to quickly address symptoms as they occur. On the other hand, Easyhaler Budesonide is a preventer, meant for the ongoing management of asthma. You should use Easyhaler Budesonide daily, typically twice a day—once in the morning and once in the evening. Easyhaler Salbutamol isn't for daily use; it's only for when you experience symptoms or during an asthma attack.

Reliever and preventer inhalers usually come in different colours. Relievers are often blue, while preventers can be various colours.

Can you get Easyhaler Salbutamol over the counter?

No, it's only available with a prescription. You'll need to have a consultation with a clinician to check if it's safe and suitable for you. If you're likely to experience certain side effects or have an allergy to salbutamol, for instance, our clinician will need to consider these factors before prescribing Easyhaler to you.
