ellaOne is an emergency contraceptive pill that contains 30mg of ulipristal.
Ulipristal works by blocking progesterone receptors in the ovaries, delaying ovulation to prevent sperm from reaching the egg. It also reduces the uterine lining’s thickness to support this process.
You should take this pill as soon as possible, ideally within 5 days (120 hours) after unprotected sex or if you missed your regular contraceptive pill.
