Evorel Sequi Description
Evorel Sequi is an HRT patch that includes a combination of two hormones.
It's for women experiencing menopause who continue to have menstrual bleeding.
The patches have man-made versions of oestrogen and progesterone.

What is Evorel Sequi and what does it treat?

Evorel Sequi is a combination of two hormones prescribed for women who are experiencing menopause but still have monthly periods. It's a type of hormone replacement therapy (HRT) used to manage menopausal symptoms.

Evorel Sequi patches are applied to the skin for a specific number of days, then swapped for a fresh one.

Evorel Sequi vs Evorel Conti patches: what’s the difference?

Evorel Sequi and Evorel Conti both have the same two hormones, with Evorel Conti being part of the Sequi treatment. However, that's where the similarities stop.

Sequi is a type of sequential HRT patch, whereas Conti is used for continuous treatment. Sequential HRT patches have different hormones that are used in a particular sequence, while continuous patches provide the same hormone and dose throughout the month.

Sequential HRT patches are given to women who are still experiencing menopause and have some bleeding. When the bleeding stops, you can switch to a continuous HRT patch, such as Conti.

Ingredients in Evorel Sequi

Evorel Sequi patches have two active ingredients: estradiol hemihydrate and norethisterone acetate. Estradiol is a man-made form of the hormone oestrogen, and norethisterone is a man-made form of the hormone progesterone.

They're also used together in the contraceptive pill, known as combined pills, which means they contain both ingredients.

Each pack of Evorel Sequi includes two types of patches. The first, Evorel 50, has 3.2 mg of estradiol hemihydrate. The second, Evorel Conti, contains 3.2 mg of estradiol hemihydrate and 11.2 mg of norethisterone acetate.

What size are the Evorel Sequi patches?

HRT patches are made to be discreet. They're only 4cm wide, so you can easily wear them under your clothes, typically on the lower part of your body (we'll discuss that in more detail shortly).

They resemble small plasters and are just as thin, so they probably won't be visible through your clothes. You can place them anywhere on the lower half of your body, as long as it's a hairless area and not where you might wear elastic. Choose a spot that feels most discreet to you.

What problems can the menopause cause?

Menopause refers to the hormonal changes in your body that result in the end of your periods and the natural ability to become pregnant. This typically takes place between your mid-40s and mid-50s, although it can happen earlier for some women.

Menopause can significantly affect your life,

both physically and mentally, so having the option of a treatment like HRT can truly transform your life.

Menopause symptoms can include hot flushes, mood swings, difficulty concentrating, vaginal dryness, trouble sleeping, night sweats, and a noticeable decrease in sexual desire.

These symptoms can develop gradually and may last for several years before your periods stop altogether.

Evorel Sequi patches can help relieve symptoms and are also used to prevent osteoporosis, a bone condition common during menopause that results in brittle or misshapen bones.

How do I change the Evorel Sequi patch?

Taking off the patch is straightforward. Simply peel it away and fold it so the sticky side sticks to itself. This stops any leftover hormones from being picked up by children or pets.

Always dispose of the patch in the bin; don't flush it down the toilet. Once you've taken the patch off, you might notice some adhesive left on your skin. This will come off gradually, or you can clean it off with soap and water or baby oil.

Can I get Evorel Sequi patches over the counter?

To begin using Evorel HRT patches, you'll need a prescription. HRT treatments can cause side effects, and some products might not be suitable if you have a pre-existing health condition or are taking other medications.

First, you'll need to have a consultation with a clinician to determine if Evorel Sequi is safe for you. It's important to share your medical history and any treatments you're currently using during this discussion.
