FemSeven Conti is an HRT patch worn on the skin, designed for women who have gone through menopause and haven't had a period in over a year.
Each patch includes two active ingredients: an oestrogen named estradiol and a progesterone called levonorgestrel. These synthetic hormones work together to help balance hormones and ease menopause symptoms such as irregular periods, mood swings, and hot flushes.
During menopause, women experience a significant drop in their oestrogen levels. This decrease in oestrogen is responsible for many of the typical symptoms of menopause. FemSeven includes a synthetic form of oestrogen to help top up these declining levels and ease menopausal symptoms. However, to balance the increased oestrogen and prevent issues with the womb, progesterone is also needed. This is why the treatment, which includes both oestrogen and progesterone, is known as combined HRT.
If it's been a year or more since your last period, it's advised to use continuous HRT. You won't experience a monthly bleed similar to a period.
The transdermal patch holds the dose of active ingredients. When you place it on your skin, it gets absorbed into your bloodstream. The oestrogen and progesterone are gradually released over the course of the day.
If you find it difficult to swallow tablets, an HRT patch might be a better option for you. The advantages of using an HRT patch are greater than the risks when compared to taking tablets. It can help you avoid some side effects, such as indigestion, and there's a slightly lower risk of blood clots.
FemSeven Conti and FemSeven Sequi are quite similar as they both use the same active ingredients and function in the same manner. However, they differ slightly in their hormone schedules and the people they are intended for.
FemSeven Sequi is designed to address menopause symptoms using a sequential approach. It's suitable for women who are going through menopause but still experience irregular periods, known as being 'perimenopausal'. The treatment involves using two different patches in two distinct phases.
In the first phase, apply the oestrogen-only patch for two weeks, changing it once a week. In the second phase, switch to the progesterone patch for the following two weeks, also replacing it weekly.
By the end of phase two, you will typically experience a bleed.
FemSeven Conti patches provide a consistent level of hormones all month long, making it a 'continuous' treatment. It's typically suggested for women who haven't had a period in a year.
FemSeven Conti comes in just one dose, which contains 50mcg of estradiol and 7mcg of levonorgestrel.
No, it doesn't, but there are several combined HRT tablets you can talk about with your prescriber.
Elleste Duet is a type of combined sequential HRT tablet. It includes estradiol and norethisterone and is intended for women who are still experiencing periods. Trisequens also contains these ingredients and is sequential, but it's designed for women who haven't had a period for at least 6 months.
Kilofem is similar to Elleste Duet, but it's a continuous treatment designed for women who are postmenopausal.
Indivia is a continuous tablet designed for women who still have a womb and haven't had a period in over three years. It includes estradiol and medroxyprogesterone.
If you're sensitive to hormones, Kliovance is like Kliofem, and Novofem is similar to Elleste Duet. Premique is a continuous HRT and includes estradiol and medroxyprogesterone.
Femoston comes in two forms: continuous or sequential tablets, depending on whether you're premenopausal or postmenopausal. It includes estradiol, an oestrogen, and dydrogesterone, a progesterone.
Menopause can be a concerning time, particularly with physical changes such as weight. It's common for women experiencing menopause to notice weight changes. A decrease in oestrogen levels can slow down metabolism, which is a natural occurrence.
HRT helps to replace oestrogen and manage metabolism. Experts believe that the weight gain linked to Femseven and other HRT treatments is more likely due to fluid retention and bloating, which are common symptoms during menopause.
If you haven't had a period in over a year, Evorel Conti is a similar option for combined and continuous HRT patches. It contains the same oestrogen, estradiol, but uses a different progesterone called norethisterone. These patches work like FemSeven Conti, with the oestrogen easing menopause symptoms and the progesterone helping to lower the risk of womb cancer.

You might experience some side effects, such as:
Certainly. FemSeven Conti includes an oestrogen known as estradiol. Estradiol is a synthetic form of oestrogen, but it's referred to as 'body identical' because it matches the biological and chemical structure of the hormone naturally produced by women.
Yes, our clinicians will need to ensure it's the most suitable treatment for you. If you're experiencing menopause, haven't had a period for roughly a year, and are at risk of osteoporosis, then FemSeven Conti might be suggested for you.
