Rozex is a treatment for rosacea that comes in either a cream or gel form. When applied twice daily, it can help lessen inflammation and redness. Doctors may also suggest lifestyle changes alongside the medication to get the best outcomes.
Rosacea is a long-term skin condition that leads to redness, blushing, inflammation, and irritation. It typically affects those with fair skin. While it's more common in women, men who have it often experience more severe symptoms. Rosacea usually starts after the age of 30 and appears on the forehead, nose, cheeks, and chin. Other symptoms can include dry skin, sore eyelids, swelling, and yellow-orange patches.
The exact cause of rosacea isn't known, but certain everyday triggers like alcohol, caffeine, spicy foods, cheese, and some aerobic exercises like running can make the symptoms worse. While there's no cure at the moment, there are treatments available to help ease the symptoms of rosacea.
The exact cause of rosacea isn't known, but it's believed to be linked to things like an overactive immune system, environmental influences, genetics, and issues with blood vessels. It's important to note that rosacea isn't due to poor hygiene and it isn't contagious.
You're more likely to experience it if your skin burns easily, if you smoke, and if you're over 30. It affects about 1% to 20% of people, but many are misdiagnosed, so the actual number could be higher.
Rosacea comes in four main types. The first type leads to flushing and visible clusters of blood vessels, known as Erythematotelangiectatic rosacea. The second type, Papulopustular rosacea, causes redness, swelling, and bumps. Ocular rosacea affects the eyes, causing burning and itching. The fourth type, Phymatous rosacea, results in thickened skin and an enlarged nose. It's common for people to experience symptoms from more than one type.
Rozex is available as a cream or gel and helps to ease rosacea symptoms. It acts quickly thanks to its active ingredient, metronidazole, a strong antibiotic. It works by damaging the bacteria's DNA, preventing them from multiplying. This helps to control infections and reduce inflammation.
Apply Rozex twice daily, once in the morning and again before bedtime. This is the highest recommended dosage. If it doesn't seem effective, speak to a healthcare professional about other treatment options.
It's advised to use Rozex for three to four months. Depending on how well you're responding to the treatment, our clinician might suggest continuing it for another three or four months. However, you shouldn't use it for more than three to four months without consulting our clinician first.
If you don't notice any improvement with Rozex after this first period, our clinician will go over your treatment with you and suggest other options.
What should I do if I accidentally use Rozex incorrectly?
If you forget to apply Rozex, use it as soon as you remember. But if it's almost time for your next dose, just skip the missed one and carry on as usual. Don't use extra Rozex to make up for a missed application. If you accidentally swallow the cream or gel, or get it in your eye and it causes irritation, seek medical help. Always follow the instructions in the leaflet and listen to professional medical advice.
There are various medications that can help manage rosacea symptoms. These come in the form of capsules or creams, like Finacea, which contains azelaic acid. The choice between these treatments and Rozex will depend on your individual health needs. For instance, Soolantra is often effective for reducing redness, while Finacea works well for bumps and spots caused by rosacea. Our clinical team is here to assist you in choosing the most suitable treatment for your rosacea symptoms.
Rozex is like other creams and gels that have metronidazole as the active ingredient. It works in the same way and provides similar results. Metronidazole is also available in tablet or solution form.
You have the option to use Rozex as either a cream or a gel. They both function the same, so it's really up to your personal preference.
Rozex is a reliable treatment for rosacea symptoms, thanks to its strong active ingredient. Research shows that Metronidazole is highly effective in managing rosacea. You can expect to see results with Rozex in about three to four months. Studies have found that metronidazole works much better than a placebo for treating moderate to severe rosacea. Additionally, when used twice a day as directed, it effectively tackles the inflammatory aspect of the condition.
You'll need a prescription to use Rozex. A clinician will assess your condition and symptoms to determine the most suitable treatment for you, and they'll guide you on how to use the medication safely.
Rozex isn't right for everyone, and there are a few things you should know before using it.
Here's all the official information about it. If anything isn't clear, just let our clinician know, and they can discuss it with you.
