Tetralysal Description
Tetralysal is an antibiotic that can help treat acne.
The capsules work by targeting the bacteria that block pores and lead to infection.
Tetralysal is taken as a single dose of 300mg daily for a period of up to eight weeks.

What is Tetralysal?

Tetralysal is an antibiotic capsule often prescribed for treating acne, but it can also be effective for other skin infections.

The usual dose is one tablet each day, typically in the morning, and you'll probably be on it for up to eight weeks. It's crucial to complete your full course of Tetralysal, even if your symptoms improve. This helps prevent the bacteria from becoming resistant and returning.

How does Tetralysal work?

Acne typically results from either hormonal changes or a build-up of bacteria blocking your pores. Tetralysal helps by targeting the bacteria on your skin that cause acne.

Our skin glands create a substance called sebum, which is important for keeping our hair and skin healthy. However, bacteria are attracted to sebum. When our sebaceous glands produce an excess of sebum, bacteria begin to feed on it. This leads to blocked pores, resulting in spots, redness, swelling, and other acne symptoms.

The active ingredient in Tetralysal is lymecycline. This antibiotic works by targeting bacteria and preventing them from making the proteins they need to live. When lymecycline deprives the bacteria of these essential proteins, your body's immune system can then weaken and eliminate them.

What doses of Tetralysal are there?

Tetralysal comes in a single dose of 300mg per capsule. For treating acne, it's typically advised to take one capsule each morning for up to eight weeks.

How long does it take Tetralysal to work?

As with all antibiotics for acne, it may take a few weeks before you start to see any changes. The time it takes to treat acne can differ for each person, depending on how severe your acne is and how you respond to the treatment. If you haven't noticed any improvement after eight weeks, it's a good idea to speak with our clinician. They'll assist you in finding other options that might be more effective for you.

How is Tetralysal different from other treatments for acne?

Is Tetralysal similar to any other treatments?

Tetralysal is the brand name for the generic medicine Lymecycline. They both have the same active ingredient and function in the same way. The difference is that Tetralysal is produced by a different manufacturer and has its own brand name. As a branded option, Tetralysal tends to be slightly more expensive.

Do I need a prescription for Tetralysal?
