Vardenafil Description
Vardenafil helps treat erectile dysfunction by boosting blood flow to the penis.
It usually starts working within 25 to 60 minutes and can last for up to 5 hours.
Vardenafil comes in three different doses:5mg, 10mg, and 20mg.

What is Vardenafil?

What sets apart Vardenafil from other ED drugs? Potency. A little Vardenafil goes a long way, so the dosages of the drug are lower, but it’s still an effective option. And because you don’t need as much, you’re less likely to get side effects with it. This makes it a good option for older men or men with medical conditions like high blood pressure. [1] [2]

Simply take one Vardenafil tablet 25 to 60 minutes before engaging in sexual activity. It stays effective in your system for up to five hours, allowing you plenty of time to enjoy intimacy with your partner.

Similar to Levitra, Vardenafil is available as an oro-dispersible tablet (ODT) that dissolves in your mouth, so you don't need to swallow it with water.

How does Vardenafil work?

Vardenafil works by opening up blood vessels so more blood can get into the penis. It’s a PDE5 inhibitor, which means that it restricts the action of an enzyme in the body (PDE5). This enzyme can cause blood vessels to become tight, and when someone has ED, this can stop blood flow to the penis (making erections difficult). Vardenafil helps to dilate these blood vessels, improving circulation to the penis. The result? Easier, longer-lasting and firmer erections.

Levitra, Vardenafil: what’s the difference?

Not much, just the name.

Vardenafil is the generic (more affordable) version of Levitra. It contains the same active ingredient, so it works the same way in the body, even though it looks different on the outside.

The primary difference is that it's not produced solely by one company, unlike Levitra. The company that manufactures Levitra holds the rights to the brand name and the unique design of the circular, orange tablets.

Generic medicines like Vardenafil are produced by various manufacturers, which often makes them less expensive than brand-name versions. They can also vary in colour and shape.

How long does Vardenafil take to work?

Vardenafil usually starts working within 25 to 60 minutes. It's best to take it about an hour before you plan to have sex, to ensure it has enough time to take effect. After taking it, it remains effective for up to four or five hours, so you can relax and enjoy the experience without feeling rushed.

Keep in mind, it shouldn't result in a continuous erection lasting four to five hours. If you experience one that goes on for more than four hours, you should head to the hospital. With Vardenafil, you'll find it easier to achieve an erection when you're sexually aroused during this five-hour period.

Certain factors, such as having a large meal, can influence how quickly it starts to work.

Eating a lighter meal will help the medication work within the usual time frame.

What is Vardenafil ODT?

It's a 10mg orodispersible tablet. You don't need water to take this type of tablet as it dissolves in your mouth.

It's a good choice for men who prefer to take a tablet discreetly, without making it obvious by stopping to have it with a glass of water.

How safe is Vardenafil?

Vardenafil is quite safe when taken properly. It's a low-risk treatment and is less likely to cause side effects compared to other ED medications.

Most men who use Vardenafil don't experience problems, but some might have side effects. If these side effects persist or make you feel unwell, it's important to inform your prescriber.

If you have any existing medical conditions, be sure to inform your prescriber when discussing treatment for ED. This will assist them in choosing the most suitable treatment options for you and in considering any potential interactions with other medications.

For instance, if you're on nitrates, using ED medication simultaneously can lead to severe side effects. Therefore, it's crucial that the person you're consulting is aware of this, so they can safely suggest treatment.

Vardenafil vs Sildenafil: Which one’s better?

Ultimately, it's your choice. Both options work in the same manner and are on-demand treatments with similar action times. So, they're quite alike.

Vardenafil is generally considered easier to tolerate for men who have existing health conditions or are slightly older. However, Sildenafil tends to be a bit more affordable, so each has its own advantages and disadvantages.
