Zineryt Description
Zineryt is a solution used to treat acne and contains two active ingredients.
It mixes an antibiotic with zinc acetate to aid in healing the affected skin.
It helps clear up acne by killing bacteria and can begin showing results in a few weeks.

What is Zineryt?

Zineryt is a treatment for acne that includes two active ingredients: an antibiotic that targets the bacteria causing your acne, and zinc acetate, which aids in repairing damaged skin.

Zineryt tackles the root cause of your acne by preventing the bacteria responsible from spreading and growing on your skin.

How does Zineryt work?

Your skin has tiny openings called pores. Typically, between the ages of 12 and 25, changes in your hormone levels cause you to produce more sebum, which is a natural, waxy substance on your skin. When there's too much sebum, it can clog your pores. This blockage allows bacteria on your skin to feed on the sebum and produce waste, which can lead to spots and acne.

Erythromycin, the antibiotic in Zineryt, stops the bacteria on your skin from making a protein they need to multiply. This prevents them from spreading, giving your skin a chance to heal while your immune system eliminates them. The zinc acetate in Zineryt also helps to speed up the healing of your skin.

What doses of Zineryt are there?

Zineryt comes in just one dose. You should apply it as directed for 10-12 weeks to give it a chance to work before deciding if it's meeting your expectations. If you find it's not effective after this period, please inform our clinician. They might suggest trying a different treatment.

How long does it take Zineryt to work?

A lot of people begin to see results from using Zineryt within a few weeks, but it can sometimes take 10-12 weeks to experience the full effect. If you haven't seen any changes after 12 weeks of using Zineryt, please inform our clinician – you may need to consider a different treatment.

what should I do if I make a mistake when using Zineryt?

If you've used too much Zineryt by mistake, gently dab the extra off with a tissue. If you accidentally swallow Zineryt, let a healthcare professional know immediately.

Try to avoid missing doses of Zineryt, as it can slow down your recovery. If you do forget, apply it as soon as you remember, but make sure there's at least a three-hour gap before the next application. Don't use extra Zineryt to make up for any missed doses.

Is Zineryt similar to any other treatments?

While there are other treatments that use the antibiotic erythromycin, Zineryt is unique because it combines erythromycin with zinc acetate. This combination might be the most effective option for you if you're looking for a topical antibiotic that also helps to support and speed up your skin's healing process.

How is Zineryt different from other treatments for acne?

Antibiotics are just one option for treating acne, but some people find they respond better to other treatments. These can include topical retinoids, which are creams made from vitamin A, azelaic acid, a natural acid with anti-inflammatory effects, and for some women, the combined contraceptive pill can also help with acne.

If you're unsure about which acne treatment might be best for you, have a chat with our expert team. After discussing your health with us, they'll be able to suggest treatments tailored to your needs.

Can I get Zineryt over the counter?

No, you do need a prescription for Zineryt. This ensures a clinician can check it's safe and appropriate for you. It's important to use antibiotics properly to prevent antibiotic resistance, so a clinician will guide you on how to use it and for how long.
