What Is It

A Proven Way to Soften Lines and Refresh Your Appearance

Anti-wrinkle injections use a purified form of botulinum toxin — a protein derived from the bacterium Clostridium botulinum — to temporarily relax specific facial muscles. When those muscles relax, the overlying skin smooths out, softening the creases and lines that form over years of natural facial expression.

The treatment works by blocking the nerve signals that instruct muscles to contract. The result is a softer, more refreshed appearance that still looks and feels entirely natural. You will still be able to express yourself — you simply lose the deep-set lines.

Why Westbury Chemist

We take a conservative, results-focused approach. The goal is never a frozen or overdone look — it is a refreshed, natural version of you. Every treatment includes a complimentary 14-day follow-up to assess results and provide a top-up if needed, at no additional cost.

Treatment Areas

Where Anti-Wrinkle Injections Work

Botulinum toxin is used cosmetically and medically to target muscles across the face, neck, and body.

🪞

Forehead Lines

Horizontal lines that deepen when you raise your eyebrows. Treatment smooths the forehead while preserving natural brow movement.

😤

Frown Lines (Glabella)

The vertical "figure 11" lines between the eyebrows caused by repeated frowning. One of the most popular treatment areas for a more relaxed, approachable look.

👁️

Crow's Feet

Fine lines that fan out from the corners of the eyes when you smile. Treatment softens these creases without affecting your natural smile shape.

😁

Gummy Smile

Relaxes the muscles that pull the upper lip too high when smiling, reducing the amount of gum visible and creating a more balanced smile line.

🐰

Bunny Lines

Diagonal creases that appear on the bridge of the nose when you scrunch your face. A quick treatment that complements forehead and frown line work.

👄

Lip Flip

Small doses placed along the upper lip border relax the orbicularis oris muscle, gently rolling the lip outward for a subtly fuller appearance without filler.

🚬

Smoker's Lines

Vertical lines above the upper lip caused by repetitive pursing movements. Treatment softens these fine lines for a smoother lip area.

⬆️

Chemical Brow Lift

Strategic placement beneath the tail of the eyebrow lifts the brow and opens the eye area — a non-surgical alternative to a surgical brow lift.

🦷

Chin (Dimpled Chin)

Relaxes the mentalis muscle to smooth a "peau d'orange" or pebbled texture on the chin, creating a cleaner jawline profile.

💪

Jawline Slimming

Targets the masseter muscles at the angle of the jaw. Over several weeks, the muscle gradually reduces in size, slimming a square jawline into a softer, more contoured shape.

🧣

Trapezius (Neck Slimming)

Relaxes the trapezius muscles to reduce bulk across the upper shoulders and neck. Creates an elongated, more elegant neck and shoulder line — sometimes called the Nefertiti lift.

💧

Hyperhidrosis

A medical application of botulinum toxin that blocks the nerve signals responsible for excessive sweating. Effective for the underarms and hands, with results lasting up to six months.

The treatment area is cleansed and marked. Your practitioner explains every injection point before beginning.

Treatment

Small, precise doses are injected using ultra-fine needles. The procedure takes around 20–30 minutes. Most patients describe it as a tiny pinch.

Review

At your complimentary 14-day follow-up, we assess results and apply a top-up if needed to achieve the best possible outcome.

What to Expect — Results

You will usually start noticing results within 3–5 days, with the full effect settling at around 10–14 days. Results typically last 3–4 months, though this varies depending on your metabolism, lifestyle, and the area treated.

The goal is a natural, refreshed look — not a frozen one. You will still be able to raise your eyebrows, smile, and express yourself normally. The treatment softens the deepest creases while keeping your face mobile and natural.

With regular treatments over time, many patients find that their muscles gradually require smaller doses to maintain results, as the targeted muscles become trained to relax.

Common Side Effects

Anti-wrinkle injections are considered safe when administered by a qualified practitioner. Side effects are usually mild and temporary:

  • Mild redness and small bumps at injection sites — resolve within hours
  • Light bruising — typically fades within a few days
  • Temporary headache on the day of treatment
  • Slight tenderness when pressing the treated area

Serious complications are rare but possible. These include eyelid or brow drooping (temporary, resolves as product wears off) and spread to unintended muscles. Full complication information is available on our Complications & Support page.

Frequently Asked

Anti-Wrinkle Injections FAQ

Does the treatment hurt?

Most patients describe the sensation as a tiny pinch. The needles used are ultra-fine, and each injection takes only a second or two. Numbing cream or ice can be applied beforehand to make the experience even more comfortable.

How long does the procedure take?

The injection stage takes around 20–30 minutes after your consultation. It is often called a "lunchtime treatment" because you can return to normal activities immediately afterwards with no downtime.

Will my face look frozen or unnatural?

Not when performed by a trained professional. Our approach is conservative and tailored to your facial anatomy. The goal is subtle, natural-looking softening of lines — not a frozen or expressionless result. You will still be able to move your face normally.

How often will I need treatment?

Results typically last 3–4 months. Most patients return three to four times per year to maintain their results. Over time, regular treatment can train the muscles to relax more easily, meaning some patients find they can extend the interval between sessions.

Can I combine anti-wrinkle injections with other treatments?

Yes. Anti-wrinkle injections pair well with dermal fillers, skin boosters, chemical peels, and medical facials. Many patients combine treatments as part of a personalised aesthetic plan. Your practitioner can recommend the ideal combination during your consultation.

What should I avoid after treatment?

For the first 24 hours, avoid rubbing or massaging the treated area, strenuous exercise, saunas or steam rooms, and lying flat for four hours. Do not consume alcohol on the day of treatment. Full aftercare guidance is provided after your appointment and is available on our Aftercare page.

What is the difference between 1, 2, and 3 areas?

The three most popular facial areas for anti-wrinkle treatment are the forehead lines, frown lines (between the eyebrows), and crow's feet (around the eyes). One area treats a single zone, two areas treats two, and three areas covers all three. Your practitioner will recommend the best combination during your consultation based on your goals and facial assessment.

Is anti-wrinkle treatment the same as dermal filler?

No. Anti-wrinkle injections relax muscles to smooth dynamic wrinkles (lines caused by movement). Dermal fillers add volume to the skin to smooth static lines, restore lost volume, and sculpt facial contours. They are different treatments that complement each other. Your practitioner can explain which approach — or combination — is best suited to your concerns.

Do you offer a free review appointment?

Yes. Every anti-wrinkle treatment at Westbury Chemist includes a complimentary 14-day follow-up appointment. During this review, your practitioner will assess your results and apply a top-up if required — at no extra charge.
